Typical timeline

All patient needs are different.

This is a typical timeline for hip or knee surgery and will vary depending on the operation and the surgeon

  • Day 1 - submit your Contact Form
  • Day 2 - phone conversation or meeting to answer your questions, and establish your needs
  • Day 2 - you complete the pre-op questionnaire, send copies of your doctor/consultant correspondence, diagnosis, etc - and we submit to the clinic
  • Day 5 - we hear back from clinic with a date for your operation, and confirm the full fixed price of your travel, surgery, etc.
  • Day 10 - you pay the full price of the operation, in advance. We pay the hospital
  • Day 11 - you pack your bags - we will tell you what you need - it's quite simple
  • Day 12 - our chauffeur picks you up at your door. You may be driven directly to your clinic, or we may offer you the option of staying at a suitable hotel overnight on the way. We use the channel tunnel, when possible.
  • Day 13 - (assuming we stopped overnight) - arrive at the clinic. Introductions. Meet your surgeon; learn the layout of your room; receive our communications bundle to facilitate talking with us and your family
  • Day 14 - diagnostic imaging; final checks with your surgeon or anaesthetist; preparation for the op
  • Day 15 - surgery and recovery
  • Day 16 - recovery day
  • Day 17 - sitting up, out of bed, physiotherapist visit
  • Day 18 - brief walk
  • Day 19-26 - progressively more exercise, walking, physio, walking outside, visit to a coffee shop, supermarket etc, depending on your abilities
  • Day 27 - receive Dr's report, paperwork, copies of x-rays, final course of drugs (for between 7 and 30 days), prescription for your doctor, letter to your doctor. Drive home.

While driving, patients can read, sleep, eat and drink. We will stop for comfort breaks, and meet patient needs.

We will comply with guidelines regarding covid transmission prevention. We are considering separation of passenger and driver compartments, and using modified vehicles.
