I'm Angela Bird,

For years while working an active job in the health sector, I suffered intense pain caused by trauma to my knee. After a year of doctor and consultant appointments I was left facing a second unbearable year on an NHS waiting list for a knee replacement. I researched private treatment in the UK and was given a surgery date, but was disappointed when the appointment was deferred at short notice at the convenience of the clinic. The quoted costs seemed to vary arbitrarily, so that I felt I could not trust the clinic. This pushed me to research treatment abroad, hoping for a fixed-price, high-quality, immediate solution.

I was hesitant to travel overseas for treatment. I was concerned about costs; I needed reassurance about the quality of surgery and follow-up; I could not have imagined flying abroad in pain; and I was nervous of convalescing in a country whose language I could not understand.

Ultimately, I was chauffeur-driven to France, had the excellent care of an experienced knee surgeon, and recovered in comfort in a clean and pleasant private clinic, with English speaking staff. My total costs were about ten thousand pounds including transport -- about 4 thousand pounds less than the UK private price, and with what I thought was considerably better care.

The insights I have gained now motivate me to help my clients receive fast and reliable treatment, despite the new and difficult circumstances due to Covid-19.

When you trust Swift Relief with organising your care, or that of a relative, I strive to:

  • Talk personally and openly with you and your relatives as soon as you are ready.
  • Treat you and your relatives with the utmost respect, and not exert any sales pressure at any time.
  • Arrange prompt transport for treatment by an excellent surgeon in a state-of-the art clinic, in France, Denmark, or the Netherlands.
  • Keep you and your friends and relatives in close touch during the stay in the clinic.
  • Give you the best value for money, consistent with high quality treatment and care.

I have sympathy for those patients who feel overwhelmed by travel, who are anxious about new environments, or fear loneliness while recovering away from home.

Therefore I will quote you a fixed price that includes:

  • chauffeur-driven ground transport to and from an English-speaking clinic,
  • pre-operative diagnostic imaging,
  • surgery performed by a highly qualified and experienced team,
  • replacement joints,
  • 14 days in a private room - optionally with your partner or companion sharing,
  • three meals a day,
  • full nursing care,
  • physiotherapy,
  • all necessary return-to-uk paperwork including a letter in english to your GP,
  • and at least a 7-day supply of medication for your return.

There will be no hidden costs, and no surprises.

Until the end of 2020, depending where you live in the UK, there may also be an opportunity to recoup some costs from your local NHS trust. I will arrange the necessary paperwork from the clinic, to substantiate the costs of surgery, physiotherapy, prostheses, and medication.
